Trash the Dress!

Trash the Dress is a phenomenon which began in America (where else?) but is now becoming popular over here.
A bride will spend a great deal of money on her wedding dress, only to wear it for perhaps twelve hours. Then it will probably be dry cleaned and packed away to rarely see the light of day again. So why not have another day of fun with it?
Although the original idea was to literally 'trash the dress' by paintballing in it, or rolling around in mud, I decided to adapt it slightly by turning it into more of a fashion-style shoot.
For this session, we headed to Felixstowe to use some of the locations around the Ferry and Old Felixstowe beach. Greer went for punky hair and make up and accessorised with chunky boots, stripy socks and gothic jewellery. She looked great and we had good fun.
Here are a few of the shots from the day.
Of course if you'd rather paintball or roll around in the mud, then I am happy to capture that too!
Please get in touch if you fancy doing this after your wedding - or even buying a frock off ebay and doing it anyway!

Lifestyle Photography in Woodbridge

I was asked to shoot this great family on location in Woodbridge for relatives' Christmas presents. It was a beautiful afternoon with the sun low and strong which made for quite contrasty images with some lovely colours.

My son's 13th birthday

I wanted to share with you the photos I took to celebrate my son becoming a teenager. He is a wonderful boy and I am very proud of him. These images were taken at our house with the mobile studio equipment.

As you can tell he is a little bit rock n roll, so I wanted the shots to be a little edgier. I am very pleased with the way they have turned out, and I think it shows that children's photography doesn't have to be about cheesy grins or chasing coloured balls around a white box.

Of course I couldn't photograph one without the other, so here are a few of my daughter!

I did it!

On a very breezy and chilly Boxing Day morning, I donned my gingham pinafore and ruby slippers, and took part in the Dip and Nip at Waldringfield in aid of CLIC Sargent.
The water was estimated to be around 8 degrees Celcius.

The video of this madness is now on Youtube, with commentary from my daughter!

Boxing Day madness

At 11 am this Friday, I shall be hurling myself into the River Deben at Waldringfield, dressed as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. I know that's not really normal behaviour, but it's the Boxing Day Dip and Nip in aid of CLIC Sargent, a charity which supports children and young people with cancer, and their families.
I have a fundraising page set up and I would be very grateful if you would consider making a donation.

Spectators are most welcome and I will post photos after the event.

Thanks folks and have a great Christmas!

Wednesday 17 December 2008

Gosh, the last time I updated this blog was September 11th and we're now just a week away from Christmas. How very remiss of me! In my defense, your honour, I have in fact been very busy. Which is nice.
Over the past few months I have been photographing toddlers for Bounty (the baby pack people rather than the chocolate bar), several babies, including beautiful twins, students and horses at the Open College of Equine Studies,  some lifestyle portrait sessions, and babies and their mums in fancy dress at the Lazy Daisy Christmas parties. I've also been seeing some lovely couples to discuss the photography for their forthcoming weddings. It's been very hectic, but great fun.
Over the Christmas break I am hoping to add some of the images from the autumn to the blog, so watch this space!
